How to tighten the vagina? Laser vaginal tightening is a procedure that more and more women opt for. These are most often women after natural delivery, but also women experiencing progressive loosening of the vaginal muscles with age. By performing a quick laser procedure, which does not require anaesthesia, we can tighten and rejuvenate the vagina.
The procedure of laser vaginal tightening comes consists in impact of the laser beam on the walls of the vagina. The laser head is inserted into the vagina and the light emitted by the laser heats the tissues, which is felt as a gentle heat. As a result of laser action, collagen fibres are shortened, thickened and strengthened. This leads to reconstruction of the vagina and tightening of its lumen. The procedure takes about 20-30 minutes and does not require aesthesia. After the procedure, there is no pain; the Patient should refrain from intercourse, intense physical activity or hot baths for two weeks after the procedure and wear pads, because during the healing process intense discharge may occur.

Atrophy of the labia majora and vagina is a fairly common female condition which increases with age. Atrophy of the labia minora and the lining of the vagina is mainly observed in mature women entering the menopause. There is a physiological decrease in the level of oestrogens, i.e. female sex hormones. Oestrogen receptors are located, among others, within the vagina, labia, urethra or bladder. Lower levels of these hormones are accompanied by a decrease in the synthesis of collagen fibres. This manifests itself not only in a worsening of the condition of the skin on the face and faster noticeable ageing, but also in changes in intimate part appearance.

Atrophy of the labia minora and the vagina leads to gradual disappearance of tissues and a decrease in their volume. This has a negative effect not only on aesthetics, but also on the loss of protection of the vaginal vestibule. Therefore, irritation and inflammation occur more frequently. Vaginal atrophy consists in a decrease in mucous membrane thickness, loss of its elasticity as well as decrease in gland activity. As a consequence, excessive vaginal dryness occurs, which leads to painful intercourse. Moreover, a gentle pH balance of the vagina is disturbed, which increases the susceptibility to infections. Eventually, noticeable changes in the appearance of the labia majora, decreased libido, burning and itching of the intimate parts may occur. Decreased oestrogen levels and atrophy of the intimate parts can even be accompanied by urinary incontinence. Hormone replacement therapy can be applied to some women affected by these consequences of menopause. Women who do not wish to or cannot undergo such therapy can reduce the negative effects of menopause on the intimate parts with the use of laser.

I highly recommend!

The Sapphire 40 Laser is used successfully in gynaecology and beyond. It is an ablative laser, so it essentially causes controlled micro-damage in the tissue subjected to the procedure. Micro-damages are generated by photocoagulation. A laser beam falling on the tissue leads to ablation, or tissue coagulation. This is a result of gradual heating of the tissue and the impact of the laser beam on the water present in the tissue. Water undergoes rapid evaporation, which is accompanied by formation of microscopic damage in the tissue. Because these micro-damages are surrounded by normal, intact tissue, skin regeneration processes are activated. These advanced repair processes include, among others, stimulation of collagen fibre synthesis, which translates into tissue structure reconstruction, its strengthening, thickening and elasticity. Such laser action is used primarily in aesthetic medicine, where the laser allows for advanced skin resurfacing, firming and rejuvenation, smoothing out wrinkles, improving facial oval and photo-rejuvenation.
Sapphire 40 laser is also used in aesthetic gynaecology. Such treatments use the ability of Sapphire 40 laser to generate a thermal effect in the deeper layers of the skin. This action heats the tissue, which results in shrinkage of collagen fibres. Apart from the process of collagen reshaping, neo-collagenesis, i.e. formation of new collagen fibres, is initiated. Thus, the laser can be used to tighten and narrow the vagina, reduce vaginal dryness, which is characteristic feature of menopause, reduce stress urinary incontinence, increase elasticity of scars after perineal incision and support the healing process and revitalisation of the labia majora.

The procedure is preceded by a gynaecological consultation. Then a physician inserts a laser head into the vagina and radiates the tissues, accompanied by the sensation of delicate heat.

The laser procedure results in is tightening of the vagina, narrowing of its lumen, strengthening of the vaginal and pelvic floor muscles, stimulation of mucous membranes. This results in improvement in firmness and condition of the tissues that build the walls of the vagina. The procedure causes noticeable vaginal tightening, which translates into improved quality of sexual life. Another benefit is improved condition of the vaginal mucosa and its better lubrication. By strengthening the muscles that support the bladder and the urethra, we can reduce the problem of urinary incontinence.
The results are noticeable after about 4-6 weeks, and it is worth waiting about 3 months for the final effect. If the effects are not fully satisfactory, the procedure may be repeated. The effects last for at least two years and in order to hold them up, the Patient should do Kegel muscle exercises.

The procedure does not require much preparation.

Do not consume alcohol, caffeine or drugs 24 hours before the procedure.

Before the visit, a vaginal culture should be done.

The procedure cannot be performed during menstruation or a week before menstruation.

The Patient will need to wear pads for about 2-3 weeks, as heavy discharge may occur. Intercourse should be abstained from for 2 to 4 weeks.

There are not many contraindications to laser vaginal tightening, but they must be taken into consideration. Below you will find the most important of them.
