Diamond microdermabrasion is a procedure of mechanical exfoliation of the skin enabling gradual removal of epidermis to a specified depth. Thanks to that, we can control the effects of the procedure and adjust intensity of exfoliation to the current needs of the skin. How does microdermabrasion look like step by step? Diamond microdermabrasion does not require anaesthesia, it is only necessary to disinfect the skin. Before the procedure the skin is thoroughly cleansed and make-up needs to be removed. A device head is put against the selected area of the skin and it is moved over the entire surface of the treated skin. The head enables exfoliation of the top layers of skin, and the cells removed in this way are sucked in by the tip of the head. Such superficial abrasion of the epidermis is repeated during one procedure several to over a dozen times. It allows for controlling depth of skin exfoliation. A diamond microdermabrasion procedure proceeds in the same way regardless of whether it is performed on the skin of the face or other parts of the body. Microdermabrasion takes about 20 – 30 minutes.
Different diamond heads may be used during a microdermabrasion procedure. The heads differ in grain size, so they can be used on different areas of the face and body. The finer the grains, the more gentle the peeling procedure. Such delicate exfoliation is suitable, among others, for the area under the eyes. On the other hand, heads with larger grains allow for stronger, deeper skin exfoliation.
Diamond microdermabrasion can always be supplemented with skin nourishing or moisturising procedures. After exfoliation is completed, a skin care ampoule and an algae mask are applied. Then the nutrients of the preparation are absorbed by the skin to a greater extent; in addition such care supports skin regeneration after the procedure. After the procedure, the Patient can immediately return to a daily routine.
